David Duker began his career with Word & Brown in 1989 as Vice President of Marketing, entering the health insurance industry following a career in advertising and publishing.
In 1994, he led point in organizing CaliforniaChoice, now the nation’s largest broker-driven private multi-carrier health insurance exchange. He coordinated regulatory, carrier contracting, and legislative issues. In 1996, his role extended to legislative and policy coordination. He was appointed Senior Vice President in 2003 of the Strategic Business Development department, with the added focus on legislation, policy, and synergistic growth of the evolving Word & Brown enterprise. He founded and is editor of the influential weekly broker e-newsletter, the “john & rusty report”, named for Word & Brown principals John Word and Rusty Brown.
David became Chief Strategic Officer in 2010, responsible for legislative and policy initiatives and new product development.
